**Want to write Swedish rum history together with Stobirk Spirits and Distillery? **
*At Åkers Krutbruk, production has been going on since Queen Kristina's time. Where black gunpowder once filled the barrels, today something completely different is formed and the barrels are given a completely different content. Behind the locked gates, the next chapter of Swedish Roma history is being written, with production on a larger scale as the basis. *
This is more than a viewing. The visit provides a unique opportunity to follow Stobirk's production from the start and learn how Swedish Roma history is written in real time. You will get a concrete insight into how the distillery is structured, what the process looks like step by step and what crucial choices are made along the way — choices that will characterize the expression of rum for years to come.
We finish the visit in our spectacular visitor's room and you will learn more about how to produce Swedish rum in Europe's largest Double retort potstill. Here we also delve into flavors and smells and give an introduction to the nature of raw materials and distillates.
A visit to Stobirk is not just an experience — it is to step in and become part of an ongoing chapter in Swedish Roma history.
Guided tour of Europe's largest Double retort potstill, tasting in smaller quantity to understand the process.
As Krutbruket is an old military area, the locked gates still stand as a memory from that era. We will meet you and the others at the gate five minutes before the experience starts, so make sure to be there on time! If you are prevented, it is very important that you get in touch with us before the start of the experience, otherwise you will miss out on your opportunity to participate and believe us, it would be a loss, you do not want to miss this visit!
Time and Layout
The visit gives an up-close insight into our craft and takes approximately 60 minutes. Since the tour involves some movement between different parts of the area, the total time may be slightly longer, and we therefore recommend that you set aside at least 80 minutes for your visit.
The show takes place around the distillery area and involves movement both inside and outside. Comfortable footwear and clothing according to the weather is highly recommended—the same seasons that help our rum mature slowly and elegantly can be slightly more brutal to walks. An umbrella can therefore be an unexpected but appreciated accessory. In short: our barrels love the weather, your shoes may not.
The experience is best suited for those who can get around the area without obstacles. Please contact us in advance if you want to adjust the conditions.
